Engine wear and tear?! help

i am reading from a couple of days on this forum now i came up with some questions roaming in my mind..

i came to know 5 years is a usual engine life span with everything 100% okay..
bad driving habbits effects engine, infact wear and tearing start happening..

but can someone tell me what actually wear and tear means??? piston rings destruction when blow pipe start smoking?? the whole piston replacement ?? clutch plates? or what do we need to repair ?

well in technical terms its gonna mean that Rings starts to wear out mostly...other stuff like Valves might also need some work and sometimes replacement...!
well it depends how much damaged is done to engine and it have had direct relation with regular maintaince....if u maintain it well....engine life can be increased and as i know...it can easily do 2,50,000km......! if car is not underpowered...!
