Enhance Performance on CNG

Last day I went to local mechanic, Since I was facing problem of heating up of cng button ( Landirenzo ). He checked and told that electric power T's circut is heating and replaced with new one. Any how that problem was solved. One more thing he did. He reduced the diameter of pipe by applying tape on the mouth of pipe connecting air filter. After that I myself felt that vehicle's ( XLI ) pick has gone excellent on cng. Any explanation of this phenomenon.
