Experts on heat - please help !

I got the hand brake of my Civic 2002 serviced today, and after that the car heats up pretty bad.

Can these two mechanisms be interlinked somehow? I mean the handbrake and engine heating up? Or are they seperate issues?

in my point of view by reading your problem. The reason for heating is that when you release hand brake i think it does'nt release properly. The brakes still appling on rear tyres thats why your engine take load on high RPM's so thats why your car got heat up. Sorry other experts in advance if i am wrong.
