Fuel gauge light indicator in dash

Fuel gauge light indicator in dash

today i changed the wire from fuel pump clip inside tank to end of sensor lever which indicates when 5 litre fuel is left in tank, wire rubber was cut and light indicator of empty tank was showing in dash cluster due to electric short circuit.
now light indicator is switched off. i disconnected the electric clip to fuel pump to see fuel needle drop to "e" but light didnt turn up. I think sensor is dipped in fuel that is why light indicator is not coming on.

In other words you cannot deceive the sensor to turn to empty tank indicator if the whole unit is fitted in the fuel tank and tank is half full with fuel.

Anyone experienced same in past???

The basic working of the light depends upon the switch installed with the guage. When the fuel guage goes down to a certain extent, it press the switch and resulting in turning ON the low fuel indicator. Just disconnecting the harness/clip won't turn the light on!.....
