Fuel‑Evaporation / Canister / Tank Sealing Integrity

Fuel‑Evaporation / Canister / Tank Sealing Integrity

Does the fuel‑tank and evaporation evap system — including the charcoal canister, filler cap, hoses and valves — seal properly, without leaks, fuel smell, o r “Check‑Engine Light CEL” related to evap faults? Some owners report persistent “evap system error” in their Tiggo 8 Pro, even after replacing sensors o r fuel‑tank related components.

A leak o r faulty evap system may cause excess evaporative emissions, fuel odor, failed emissions test, o r “engine check” warnings — so inspecting for proper sealing and correct functioning is important.

There are multiple reports from Tiggo 8 and 8 Pro owners describing a “noise coming from the fuel tank,” which they suspect to be related to the fuel evaporation / vapour control system evap system / charcoal canister.

In a particular case, the noise went away after the owner unscrewed the fuel‑filler cap — suggesting that the pressure equalisation or lack of proper sealing in the fuel‑tank/evap system might be faulty.

The owner later replaced parts including the “fuel‑tank pressure sensor / vapour‑canister module,” which reportedly temporarily resolved the issue though they planned to test over more kilometres to be sure.

In that same thread, common symptoms of a faulty canister system were listed: “Check Engine Light CEL” ON, trouble filling the tank fuel pump shutting off quickly, fuel smell, and possible emissions‑test failure.

Implication / What to check: If you inspect o r test a Tiggo 8 Pro, it’s wise to verify that the fuel cap seals properly, that there’s no fuel‑tank noise when stationary o r while refuelling, and that there are no CEL check‑engine light o r vapor‑system warning codes. If possible, inspect the charcoal canister / evap module for leaks o r damage.
