Grinding sound from gear...

Grinding sound from gear...

dear all...

there is this grinding sound coming from the engine when i start my khyber 95 in the morning... the sound fads away when i hold the clutch down and after i drive the car a few minutes it goes away... mechanic says its comming from the gear and will not cause any harm... he suggest me to change my gear oil as the present one is a bit thick and takes time to reach up to places... he suggest me to use zic oil...that will help reduce the sound...
plz tell if it is really the oil problem or is there anything loose in my gear box... plz also tell if gear oil is any different from engine oil or is it the same thing... thanx...

Salaam !

I had the same experience with the khyber I owned. All the symptoms are the same. I sold it without getting the problem checked.

I think the mechanic does have a point. Gear oil can become thick. Since it is winter, the oil gets thicker and might not be reaching the top of the gear bearings.

I wouldn't say that it is a very big problem, but do get the gear oil changed. These small things can really mess up things if they are left pending.

Thanks.
