Help Pls: 15" rims affect speedometer in GLi?

Salam alaikum All:

I'm a newbie here, but have heard so much about this forum.

My question is about my Corolla Gli 2007: I want to get alloy rims. The one I like come in 15" size rather than the 14" which is the genuine size.

I have heard that if you get a 15" rim in Corolla, your speedometer is confused, and it might show you going at 100km/h when you are actually at a higher speed. Some friends have been challaned this way on the Motorway.

One salesman (for rims) suggested that if with 15" rims, one gets tires of size 195-50/55-15, then the speedometer problem does not arise.

I'm a dud with math and also with cars

Can someone help please?

To summarize: Does anyone know how I can get 15" rims and still not confuse my speedometer?

Many, many thanks.

it has been discussed here a lot of times, just use the serach function with key words tyre, tyres, tire, profile etc and you will get all the previous threads
