Help required!!!

hey im getting a sound from the steering of my car. its a honda city 04 and the driver hit pothole and now there is a sound coming from the steering column. everytime we turn the car to the right or left there is a thak thak sound coming. it only comes once or twice when you turn it either way. i just posted here so i can get an idea of the problem before heading off to a mechanic. Thanks in advance!!
