Homemade Air filter with foam!

Hi everyone.
I just got hold of an old kia spectra air filter, removed the old filter paper from inside and used too layers of about quarter inch foam, glued them with samad bond and fixed it inside the air filter frame.Tell u guys it really works!!!!.I can feel a better response when i press the accelerator. So far so good lets see what happens next.

Anyone out of u would like to share ur views about this.

(y) job well done.

BUT i'd not appreciate any such effort as foam would disintegrate in humidity and compress in excess heat/pressure, not a good idea. even if it does not show any of the above signs but still it'd not hold micron level dust particles though it'd appear as if its working coupled with the fact that it forms a bigger/wider layer inside that filter housing.

i'd also like to point out that i ve come across many a ppl who wash their filter elements and then put them back, not a good idea as soap/ detergent particles would be held firmly inside the fiber thus reducing the engine breathing.
