Honda Civic 2012 8th Gen Engine Leakage Help NEEDED

Honda Civic 2012 8th Gen Engine Leakage Help NEEDED

I used the vehicle inspection service provided by OLX for my 2012 Honda Civic 8th Gen. During the inspection, the technician informed me that the engine had been replaced and the same engine number had been stamped onto the new engine. Could you provide your opinion on whether it appears to have been tampered with o r punched?

Additionally, I was informed that there is a leak in one of the engine seals, which is causing oil to leak out. I have learned that there are multiple types of engine seals. Can you please determine if this is an issue with the engine seal o r another type of seal?

Illegally punching an old engine number over another engine is not acceptable. However, changing the engine number in the registration book with proper documentation is legal and acceptable to excise and forensic labs. There are two primary reasons for this.

Firstly, if an old engine number is punched over another engine block, it could potentially be from a stolen vehicle that has been registered under an FIR. If forensic labs can scientifically trace the old number over the block, the vehicle could be impounded.

Secondly, it is not possible for two vehicles to have identical engine numbers. This may not be immediately apparent until a spot check and data verification generate an alert.

It is crucial to be careful in such cases and ensure that any changes made are done legally and with proper documentation.
