How does inefficient fuel transmission and distribution contribute to air pollution in Pakistan?7
Pakistan’s fuel supply chain—ranging from refineries to fuel stations—often suffers from leaks, poor-quality fuel, and inefficient distribution methods. These issues not only waste resources but also release harmful vapors and pollutants into the atmosphere. How can Pakistan modernize its fuel transmission and distribution systems to ensure cleaner energy use and lower emission levels?

These problems lead to fuel evaporation, leakage, and contamination, releasing volatile organic compounds VOCs and other harmful gases into the atmosphere. Poor quality fuel also causes incomplete combustion in engines, increasing smoke and particulate emissions.
To address this, Pakistan needs to upgrade its fuel infrastructure, enforce quality control standards, and monitor fuel supply chains more strictly. Transitioning to cleaner fuels such as Euro-V standard petrol and diesel and encouraging the use of compressed natural gas CNG o r electric vehicles can also help reduce emissions and improve overall air quality.
