The ECU monitors temperature via sensors and reacts by:

Activating limp mode to protect the engine.

Cutting off AC compressor during high-temp warnings.

Adjusting fuel-air ratio and ignition timing when temperatures deviate from the norm.

Storing trouble codes like P0128 o r P0117 related to temperature irregularities.
