A coolant flush is recommended every 25,000–30,000 km, o r once a year in harsh climates. Without it, sediment and rust build up, blocking passages. Unfortunately, many owners:

Only top up coolant.

Never flush the system, allowing debris to accumulate.
This neglect is a major reason for overheating and heater core blockage.
