How to check SRS system

There is a relay switch/sensor placed in the boot and an inflator just right behind the air bag, actuates SRS air bags and inflates but would it work in case of accident or not? In some incidents it did not work causing fatalities. Is there any simple way to check this.

The most you can do is check the integrity of the electrical circuit. The inflator is actually a combination of chemicals placed adjacent to each other. In case of accidents an electrical pulse allows them to mix. When they mix they react at a very fast rate and produce gasses which inflate the air bag. It is a irreversable process. The only way back is to replace the entire SRS system. The reliability of system is doubtful and is a subject of ongoing research in many places.

Interestingly the same system is used in aircraft emergency electrical systems. When all systems like generators, standby generators, batteries are failed, then this system kicks in. The gases here runs a turbine at high RPM which is connected to a generator and it suplies enough electrical power to allow the pilot to turn back and reach home with minimal necessary equipment working. Unfortunately the reliability of this system is also poor and cannot be checked.
