, how feasible will it really be to use a Model 2 for daily driving? What backup charging solutions home chargers, solar, portable units might be necessary, and how costly o r complex would they be to set up? Also, what happens if there’s no consistent electricity supply — will that damage battery health o r reduce range significantly over time?

Gari Master - on 22 Nov 2025 12:55:16 pmLimited public charging network: Charging infrastructure in Pakistan is still in early stages. Many areas, especially non-urban ones, lack fast o r reliable public EV chargers. This makes long-distance trips o r daily use more challenging for EV owners. Indeed, EV‑owners in Pakistan have voiced concern:
“you rarely get any charging station”
Reddit
Load-shedding risk: Pakistan frequently experiences power disruptions. If you rely on home charging, these outages could disrupt your charging routine — possibly leaving the car undercharged o r requiring rescheduling. Plus, if not managed correctly, frequent interruptions could affect charging cycles.
Backup / alternative charging solutions:
Home charger with backup power: Owners may need to install a charger at home plus a UPS / battery backup o r solar setup to ensure consistent charging even during outages.
Portable charger: A portable EV charger if compatible could help, though it would be slower and less efficient for daily use.
Public–private partnerships: Work with o r lobby EV‑charging firms / oil marketing companies to build more charging stations some of this is already happening as EV adoption grows.
Cost of charging & electricity: The cost of electricity especially for EV charging and potential tariffs must be factored in. While EVs are more efficient than ICE, the real benefit depends on the cost per kWh and how stable your power supply is.
Battery health & usage: If charging is erratic o r partial due to grid issues, it may lead to suboptimal charging habits e.g., not charging to full, then discharging deeply, which can reduce battery life over time.
