I am confused

it is said that there is aprox 15% power loss in the transmission..
said this,
the new toyota was introduced with 3 petrol powerplants, 2nz-fe(gli), 3zz-fe(se-saloon) and (2zz-fe)altis.. all of the above sahred the same manual 5 speed gearbox.. so is the power loss 15% of each engine's output or the same regardless of the engine.. caz 15% of 88 bhp(2nz-fe) is 13.2 and 15% of 133 bhp(2zz-fe) is 19.95..

Power loss is there in every gear box. Either be it a conventional planetary type gear box or it is torque conventor known as slush box or it is CVT. The engine power usually advertised by the manufacturers is the out put of the engine at the shaft. By the time the power is transmitted through the gear box to wheels there is loss ranging from 10 to 30 % depending upon the type of gear box. According to latest reviews the new CVT type transmission has the lowest loss and torque conventor type has the maximum. The examples are honda city, nissan sunny, citeron ellisa, etc for the CVT type and toyota vios has the torque convertor.

Naturally the bigger the engine output the bigger will be the gear box and total amount of power loss will be high, as the power delivered to the wheels is also high.

This from my own knowledge, please correct me if I am wrong.
