Many people use veggie oil (56p per litre) to run diesel engined
vehicles.

But I have heard that with some engine designs, it can lead to long
term problems such as fuel pump failure, gumming up of rings,
polymerisation leading to engine oil setting like jelly and so on...

Toyota D-4D engines are Direct Injection, Common Rail, Variable Nozzle
Turbochrager, Intercooler, etc...
Does anyone know about using veggie oils in Toyota D-4D Diesels?

What modifications, if any, are required?
Is it safe to use a mix of diesel and veggie and diesel without mods?
If so, what ratio?

it's called bio-diesel, it's used by many members of the land rover forum i'm on,.. even on new range rovers like the TDV8 so it shoudl work fine with a D4D engine. if he want's to mix it he should go for whatever he find suitable since they both work.

warning: when making bio-diesel if you get the ratios wrong you'll end up with soap!
