Info About Replacing Tire/Wheel Alignment Required

Friends,

When we want to replace tires on a car, is it MUST to do the wheel alignment at the same time?

I am asking the question because if the car has behaved normally on the previous set of tires with normal tire wear is it still necessary to do the wheel alignment when replacing the tires?

And after how much mileage is it Mandatory to redo wheel alignment?

few days back i hit the car in a pot hole(un intentionally ofcourse). and i knew alignment must have gone out.
went got it checked, and there was difference!
if u drive slow and on plain smooth roads, are not getting suspension work done, dont need alignment.
