Is it dangerous to ride with a blocked oil filter on long routes?

I’m planning a road trip from Islamabad to Murree on my HS bike. Someone advised me to change the oil filter before going. Can a clogged oil filter really damage the engine on long rides, and how do I know if mine needs changing?

Yes, very dangerous. A clogged oil filter restricts oil flow, and on long rides — like from Islamabad to Murree o r any hilly area — your engine can overheat and seize due to lack of lubrication.

Signs your oil filter may be clogged:

Engine noise increases

Oil looks dirty even after recent change

Oil warning light if your bike has one

Before any long ride, especially on HS bikes 125cc–200cc, its smart to:

Replace the oil filter

Change the engine oil

Use good quality oil especially in summer
