Are there signs of weak cooling o r noise due to compressor malfunction within the first few years of use?

Yes, though its not as widespread as alternator issues. Symptoms include:

Unusual clicking o r grinding sounds

Weak cooling at idle but better during high RPM

Compressor clutch failure in 2–3 years in some cases
