Is the Changan Alsvin’s thermostat linked with water pump performance, and can a faulty thermostat accelerate pump failure?

Could poor engine cooling management put extra pressure on the pump, causing premature breakdown?

Yes, they’re linked. A prematurely stuck thermostat can trap coolant, increasing pressure and temperature before the pump, causing undue stress on its bearings and shaft. Consequently, poor thermostat function can significantly shorten water pump lifespan, particularly in hot operating conditions.
