Key Considerations for Buying a Turbocharged Car

We are considering purchasing a 2016/2017 turbocharged car, and since most of the available options have already been driven over 100,000 kilometers, we would like to know what parts may need to be changed o r cleaned in the near future.

While I have experience with a 1.8 engine, I am unfamiliar with the maintenance requirements for a turbocharged engine with such high mileage.

As a general guideline when buying a used car thats a few years old, there are several key maintenance items you should address right away:

Engine oil
Gear oil
Radiator coolant including a flush
Brake oil including bleeding/flushing
Brake pads check for wear and use only Nissin brand
Tires inspect the year of manufacture and remaining tread
For peace of mind, I recommend having all of these items taken care of by a dealership. If the previous owner hasnt done these maintenance tasks recently, o r at all, they are particularly important to address.

After that, its a good idea to have the dealership perform a comprehensive inspection to identify any other necessary repairs o r maintenance items that need to be addressed in the near future. If there are any pending issues, its best to take care of them right away to avoid further damage o r costly repairs down the line.
