KEY LOST W REMOTE : CIVIC ORIEL 2001: WAT 2 DO ?

GUYS ma father lost his car's key,
hope he ll find 1 day, bcz he forgot
whr he has placed the keys, but need 2 hav 1 2 operate car,
the original key w original stock remote, just 2 buttons 2 open n close doors,

now kindly tell us if we hav key from key maker than will car start or wat v need 2 do ?

if the remote is necessary for starting car ?
or in that model the remote is only for opening n closing the door ?

the car is 2001 stock, (w non crystal back lights)
