Need Advice about Engine Temperature!
Dear experts,
Please share some information you have about the issuue I have mentioned here. I have a Civic 97 with direct ratiator fan. Few days back, I observed that the temperature needle was jumping from down to top. It was really strange. It did not keep Idle and kept on jumping. I got it checked immidiately. Its temp switch was changed but it did not move after that. Than the whole meter was openned by the electrition and it was serviced due to some dirt inside. After service, temp needle started working quiet fine. But now the thing is, whenever I switch on my car, the temp needle went to EXACTLY MIDDLE even before starting the engine and before any running. The car stands for the whole night and in the morning when I just switch it on, the temp needle goes to middle and after some running its goes very slightly up to the middle. I mean very very slight. Is that Fine??? I think it has been now set to the middle point by default. Earlier, It used to show the exact temp of the engine and tends to move upwards gradually. But now it shows middle right from the beginning. I have also heard that in EFI cars, its happens and if your cooloing system is working fine, than it must show the mid point. Please advice.

First mistake you made was to run the car on direct radiator fan. Second mistake was to open the temperature gauge and try to fix it. Basically what the electrician has done is to limit the needle. Now it won't even show you the accurate temperature.
So now you have two problems. First you need to replace the temperature gauge, then switch back to automatic radiator fan and then show it to an expert to see why the car is overheating.
