Need help regarding engine running

My friend has just got his engine overhauled
the mechanic has said to run it on petrol for first 200 kms aur total running of 500 kms. and he has said that dont run the car over 50kms/h for first 500 kms..
car is a mehran

so what do u ppl think that 500 kms running is enough and what ab just 200 kms on petrol???
