a friend of mine want to put a diesel engine in its 1974 corolla so what engine u the expert will advice as his budget is 30000 and he need a powerful engine but only diesel

I second octane...for a good peace of mind conversion, be prepared to spend 60-70k Rs. Even this sum is moderate!
Some mechanics may also do it for you in 30k (with a 2nd hand engine) but this is like destroying the car.
Its not only the condition of the engine which counts...

* Proper engine mounts

* Cross member modification
/li
* proper front suspension overhaul, with steering
/li
* proper cooling system
/li
* proper air filtering system
/li
* modification of drive shaft
/li
* modification/installation fuel line, return line, and also tank
/li
* installation diesel filter
/li
* proper differential-ratio
/li
* better tyres to handle weight, bearings and brakes
/li
* hydraulic clutch installation
/li
* wiring
/li
* battery
/li
* proper exhaust
/li

are also the things to be considered for a proper conversion
