Platinum or Iridium Spark Plugs?

Platinum or Iridium Spark Plugs?

For most cars it is now recommended to hae Platinum or Iridium spark plugs. I heard this and am inviting comments from you guys. Some of the pros that were described are:

1. Better idling, considerably longer life.
2. Better mileage
3. Extremely lesser ignition misfires
4. Minimized electrode wear
5. Ability to operate at very low volts

The con is obviously higher price. I checked from the local auto parts store and BOSCH (Made in Germany) genuine platinum tipped spark plugs costed Rs 300/- each.

One more thing, is it also necessary to change the plug wires in case such costly plugs are being installed?
Thanks

Hello!
for normal purpose......don't go for expensive plugs....you can use 4 tip ones for good performance also...!
i you have some highy moded engine........then you need that kinda plugs to burst all the mixture at right time....!
for normal use.....!use 4tip plugs...Bosch +4 you can get for 1000/-!
if plug wires are good enough........no need to change...if they have much resistance...better change it....!
before changing wires...check it with Multi-meter for resistance....!
if they have much b/w two ends...change them!! otherwise no need..!
Thanxxx
