wats the reason behind Knocking .. i mean wt actually happens while knocking ... either valves strikes the piston or plug in the combustion chamber or wt ....

as far as i remember from my chemistry lessons, its due to low octane number of fuel which causes it to ignite due to the heat, formed by compression, before the spark plug ignites it.
