RPM High but not enough Acceleraion

My cultus VXR 2007 has a problem. Its acceleration has droped considerably. While driving the RPM rises but the car isn't accelerating the way it should. What should be the issue?

chk tht whether the sound of de engine increase wid the rpm or not!
it happened with my vxr tht the rpm meter got maniac...
after 3k rpm it started rising like hell!
