Someone tell me....
Someone tell me....
here goes...
1. This compression everyone talks about, its the compression level of the pistons, right? How do you change it? I presume its got something todo with the timing? And how would you know what compression the car is running on?
2. How do you measure what psi level the car is REALLY running on?
3. After-market spark plugs increase performance? I think they are only changed to better quality ones 'cos of extended lifetime, am I right?
4. How do after-market ignition systems increase performance?
5. What are voltmeters used for in cars, I mean to measure voltage across what?
6. Exhaust mufflers are said to reduce low-end hp, myth or true?
7. Where can I get a custom body-kit made in Karachi? and approx how much would it cost for a '94 civic?

1. You can lower compression by machining the head/face of the piston, adding a thicker gasket between the block and the head, fitting shorter connecting rods etc.
2. Check the pressure being sent into the intake manifold with a (ideally digital) pressure guage.
3. In real life matters they only last longer, but they do offer less resistance to the charge from the ignition which will allow for a better spark. They are more effective with high performance ignition (ignition amplifiers).
4. They increase the power of the spark (like an audio amplified increases the power output of a headunits signal to the speakers).
5. Usually its either the batter power or what the output is at on the generator.
6.usually true (99.9999% of the time in pakistan) but if built correctly it can be very effective in increasing both topend hp and bottem end hp.
7. no idea where but it should cost between 8 and 20 thousand depending on design, size, alterations and quality.
