Temperature Guage

Temperature Guage

My car's (86 corolla) temp needle stays between half and above half mark (with and without a/c). But today when I turned on the a/c it start going up towards red mark.

I took my car to mechanic and after inspection, he said that engine is not overheating and it could be possible that temperature guage is at fault.

Expert's advice needed!

wel engineers have very easy answers to our problems.

I do not think that if the meter is moving up / down the meter is defective. Check again without turning on the AC and running your car in the day.

If still overheating engine in park, take a hose and some water on the radiator fins from front grill even when the car engine to start. If the temperature comes down over your temperature gauge works fine and the problem with your cooling system.

I have gone through the same problem with my Mehran 2000 model and the mechanic said the engine is not overheated when I did some trial and error things I mentioned above and discovered that the car is over heating when the AC is on in the summer afternoon.
