Thermostat Valve?

Thermostat Valve?

Hey, I had my friends 1994 Civic VTEC D16A not automatically as 3 months. The problem is that I always gave the car 5mins to warm up every morning. The temp needle wudnt go up and the RPM drop or wudnt. i wud drive to work, which was 8 km. still wudnt go up like normal cars do. becoz of this I have seen the cars speeding past engaging.when not stuck in traffic and the needle goes up (do not overheat, its normal), and the car is warm enough then the final gear locks. i dnt KNW r how they relate. I just wanted to change the thermostat valve. can you plz tel me where it is? and what key steps in changing. Thank you.

Thermostatic valve is usually located at the beginning of the pipe (in one case), which delivers water back to the radiator, so you can trace it back to where that pipe connects to the engine.

The gearbox problem that you mentioned might be due to incompatible gear viscosity / type
