I have come across a funny problem FLi. coming from nowshera one day, i picked up an outrun with a honda city. i was quite comfortable with the fact that i have a faster engine; and it was so until 140km/h. after that my car just refused to go faster. i mean, i out-accelerated him til 140, but that was IT. no more speed after that. at that time, i thought it was due to weight (5 ppl in car), plus a dirty air filter. BUT, yesterday, i was alone in my car and had the air element cleaned a few days back, and my car refused to go faster than 140 AGAIN! on a DOWNHILL slope; and i was ACCELERATING up that slope. Is it possible theres a speed governor in play here? i personally thought my air intake was restricted (stock 5A-FE), but my mechanic said the bore of air intake pipes was the same for diesel and petrol. what gives??? btw, i am talking abt my corona, not the chevy.

Its like pissing in the wind, these diagnosis over the internet!
My questions are as follows.
1. Mow many times has it happened before.
2. What was the tacho showing when you hit 140 and how much does the engine rev to at idle?
3. When was the fuel filter last changed?
5. Your pumps an electric unit destined for an EC Tranny means it had a speed sensing funtion, are you manual or still using the slushbox?
6. At 140, is there a loss of power and do you still have accelerater travel or you're virtually through the floorpan?
7. If there's a loss of power when was the last time that you recalibrated the pump and had the injection pattern readjusted.
8. Does your car smoke? EXCESSIVE?
