Vehicles in Rainy season(specialy in khi)-TIPS

due to recent rain in khi today & yesterday ( & almost it is rainy season in many parts of country ),it is my suggestion that all we have to give better tips & suggestions in order to make PakWheels & users & drivers more helpful, safe & effective
so I am giving some tips & you all have to share & discuss ( may be mine could be wrong) so we have to develop healthy & good competitive arguments to make sure that in end we all have same point of view so please do share if u have some good tips /tricks for vehicles safety /driving in rainy season /extra care etc.
u all r invited to come & discuss good tips & issues specailly in rainy season
so lets start...

TOP.First of all pray to Allah for safety & read "Dua-Safar"

1.In rain,I saw some pupils attach a long hose pipe like radiator pipe mostly ( L-shaped) to end of silencer so that its upper end is high enough so that water cannot enter silencer & there will be free low exhaust

Please can anybody tell what could be usefuleness of this or it is useless

2.secondly,please attach good mud flappers near your tire so that your car & its paint could be saved while driving through knee-reaching water( beacuse may be some small stones in water can damage ur paint

3.thirdly always put grease on your fender end side(on each U-shaped of your wheel) so that water cannot stay there long time ( otherwise rust will occur)

4, try to avoid driving in more water

5.if you r driving, then never release foot from excellerator, otherwise ur car will stop

6.if there is knee reaching water then try to drive in either 1st or 2nd gear or according to conditions( u can better manage)

7.some pupil when driving through water, they switch on the choke, in such condition even if u release foot from accelerator, then ur car will not stop because petrol will be continously going
(please discuss if car is driving on cng then wheter opening choke will help or harm?)

8.always put your wiper rubber in healthy condition ( otherwise it can cause scrathes on screen

9.EMERGENCY CASE: if ur wiper rubber is damaged & starting it can cause damage on scren then do one thing:Take a good cotton cloth ,fold it 2 or 3 times & stick with some small cloth piece or wire to wiper blade, now when wiper move this cloth will rub screen & make screen clear & safe

10. always try to fill wiper washer fluid uptill FULL mark( better if u use Liquid glass Cleaner) it has some good chemicals which cause shining & more clearness to screen

11.
if ur screen or glass has some scratches do something called like buffing

12. always use RUBBER MATS inside ur cars( rather than using fancy one),RUBER mats are easy to clean ,wash & laso can be proved as insulator to prevent from electric & electrical shocks

13. if there is much rain & your car gets stopped, dont panic ,stay confident & check before leaving car that wheter near you car there should not be some elctrical wires broken

14.some pupil also says that using bonut shield (under your bonut) will also help (it also helps in summer when ur engine is too hot but u cannot feel while putting ur hand on bonut

15.some pupil put some water proof plastic/parachute cover under your engine so that water cannot come from down & cannot enter engine parts or dynmo/generator/alternator

16.in rain dont try to switch off ur car if u stay for less than 10 minutes otherwise it will be diifficult to restart

17.it will be better if u put wiper on backside wind screen too

18.as soon as u find home/safer place & u stay there, try to wipe off ur car immediatelt to avoid rust

19. it is advisable that before starting of rainy season, get ur car fully serviced & put either grease or oil under ur car so to avoid rust & also apply wax on whole body

20.anyway if u dont ger ur car serviced before rainy season, then as soon as rain stops then go & get car fully serviced from outside & inside & apply grease/oil to under car & all ushaped above tyres, fenders etc.

21.when it is raining & u r inside ur car never colse all ur windows completely, try to open little window open so for ventilation otherwise gas will accumulate & can break ur glass ( & u will see like steam onn ur windows glasses

22. even if u park ur car & it is raining so mostly due to rain ,outside temperature cools while inside car remains high due to closeness of glass so it can cause breaking of glass,so put little window open

23.always put atleast 3 cotton or some good cloths, some sandbath(regmaal),tool box set, tissue paper box,2-3 pages of newspaper in ur car in rainy season

24.if ur car antenna is open ,close it otherwise it can stuck to any broken wire, tree, electric poles & could be dangerous

25.try to fill your fuel tank with petrol(more than half tank) it is even good practice for driver not to put petrol indicator's needle down below HALF

26.always try to take smalll fire extinguisher in ur car( small just like hand size) b/c at anytime shock/fire could be raised, short circuit could happen

27.if it is raining put ur lights open so that other car can see you

28.if raining continously , then frequently clean your window glasses both from outside, inside, side mirrors ,lights etc.

29.never smoke ciggerate

30.try to avoid talk on mobile phone/walkie talkie & foollow safety standar rules

31.always wash/wipe ur side mirors & inside rear view mirror with piece of newspaper( it shows more shining

32.sometimes from doors, windows some water could come inside ur car then in that case after stopping ur car try to dried it with clean cvlothes otherwise it can cause smell after drying itself

33.in raining & after raining put air freshner to ur car otherwise it can cause smell

34.check ur engine belts & mostly after get wet & dry they become hard so applying little graese could solve problem

35.always put one or 2 old bed sheets in your car,put one to ur seat covers b/c ur dress may be wet & damage seat covers & put 1 bed sheet to ur rubber mat or carpet to keep them dry as much as possible b/c ur shoes will wet them

36.after passing car from knee reaching water, then some mechanics recommend that if ur car has differential oil, then change it , in addition to it u also have to change gear oil

37.after rain,ur brakes seems little hard & after dryness, get then serviced ( it will take only 100-150Rs.) but brake parts should be clean after raining.

I HOPE U WILL ADD MANY TIPS FOR SAFE DRIVING IN RAIN AS WELL AS CAR SAFETY, & ALSO SOME PUPIL WILL START GOOD DISCUSSION TO BE USEFUL FOE ALL

1. when you change gears the reduction in back pressure can cause the water to be sucked into the silencer and can stall you rengine.

2. small stones will have a hard time moving in water and larger ones will not lift regardless of water or not. mudflaps are only good to prevent splashes from reaching the sides of your doors or rear bumper

3. insides of fenders are curved so with airflow, gravity and movement the water shoudl dissipate, but if you apply grease it can trap water and moisture there which can lead to rusting

5. see reply 1

6. thisiss due to resistance, lower gears will allow you to power throught the water, it shoudl eb noted that you shoudl keep you rcar just behind the wave created by the forward motion of the car, this "bow wave" will stop water entering your engine bay.

7. see reply 1

8. N/A

9. it is not advisable to use wire to attach anything which is going to move on the windscreen. impropper fitting can cause major damage to teh screen

10. cheaper solution is to fill almost full with water and to add a little vinigar

15. yes it is a concept applied to deep water crossing by real offroaders as well, but it is only good for short runs as it is supposed to be fit from the bonnet around the front and down, this will kill all airflow to the front of the car which can lead to overheating. also you have to move forward constantly, any slowing down will lead to the sheet moving forward and lossing all effectivness.

18. only if it is not raining

19. there are greasing points on all cars, they shoudl be inspected and filled regularly

20. see reply 19

21. yes and no, yes because the concept is right, but no because most modern cars have vents in the trunk and by opening the window you are allowing the vents to open (backwards) and that will cause the water to fill your trunk.

22. when it rains it causes the air to be more dense, closing all windows and allowing the car to heat up in the sun will lead to an increase in pressure which will lead to possible window damage. however as i mentioned in a previous post, the vents int eh trunk shoudl allow for the pressure to regulate itself.

23. N/A

24. it's always best to keep it closed when not in use for the same reasons.

25. full tank menas extra weight, which mean worse gas mileage. in switzerland and germany most people only half fill their tanks so the car runs lighter and therefore more efficiently.

26. N/A

27. only low beams.

28. it is better to clean it once with a window cleaner or water and vinigar from the inside, this will prevent it from misting up and the rest can be handled by your cars air con and defoggers

29. N/A

31. N/A

32. if this happens either your door rubbers are damaged/worn or the plastic shield INSDE your doors is leaking. it shoudl be opened and resealed as it is there to prevent moisture (or water) from breaching the door card (inside of door)

33. smell only occurs when there is dampness for prolonged periods, it is the smell of rotting cloth and foam. airfreshners will only cover teh smell, a more permenant solution is to find the cause and to recitfy the problem.

34. only graphite grease should ever be used on any belt of a car, and should be used VERY sparingly

35. N/A

36. modern gearboxes and differentials are sealed units (with breather located high in the engine bay). there is no need to change it since there is no chance of contamination.

37. modern disc brakes SHOULD clean themselves but this is more applicable for slotted discs.

hope you didn't mind my replies, good thread (Y)
