Water dropping silencer
Water dropping silencer
hey guys ,
i often saw people writing water dropping silencer or there car dropping water from silencer when they race there car or usually in morning time i would like to know what does that means , does it means your engine is very strong ? does that means your rings are very strong ? does that means your walves are working fine ? i mean what specifically water coming out from silencer means in terms of car engine and performance and most importantly where that water comes from ? radiator mm i dont know please share your knowledge in this regards in details thanks in advance .

salaam:
water is a by-product of the combustion of hydrocarbon/gasoline. gasoline does contain hydrogen, and when gasoline is burnt, some of that hydrogen combines with the oxygen being used to burn it, producing water.
most of the time, the exhaust is hot enough & the water remains in the form of invisible water vapour. when engine is cold, the exhaust pipe is cold, or the outside air is cold, this water may condense and become visible as steam or as liquid water dripping from the tail-pipe.
in combustion of methane we get:
CH4 + 2O2 ? CO2 + 2H2O + energy
in combustion of hydrogen we have:
2H2 + O2 ? 2H2O + heat
similarly during all combustion processes the resultant includes formation of water vapour.
water from the tail-pipe also indicates that your air/fuel ratio is ok_ & the engine is tuned correctly.
but in adverse cases it may refer to a leaky head-gasket too!
