What are the common causes of transmission fluid leaks in Pakistan’s commercial transport sector?

In Pakistan’s transport industry, heavy vehicles are frequently overused, carrying loads beyond their capacity. This strain damages seals, gaskets, and transmission pans, leading to fluid leaks. Poor-quality spare parts, infrequent servicing, and lack of skilled mechanics worsen the issue. What preventive maintenance practices and awareness campaigns could help reduce the occurrence of transmission fluid leaks in commercial vehicles?

In Pakistan’s commercial transport sector, most transmission fluid leaks occur because of poor maintenance, overloading, and the use of low-quality spare parts. Many vehicles operate beyond their designed capacity, which causes excessive pressure on the transmission system. Over time, seals, gaskets, and hoses wear out, allowing fluid to leak.

A lack of skilled mechanics and infrequent servicing also worsen the issue. Drivers and transport companies often ignore minor leaks until they become serious problems. To reduce these leaks, there should be driver training programs on vehicle maintenance, regular mechanical check-ups, and the use of certified parts in all heavy vehicles. This would help extend the lifespan of vehicles and reduce pollution from fluid leaks.
