Definitions of Supercharger on the Web:
a crank-driven air/fuel-mixture compressor, also called a blower. It increases atmospheric pressure in the engine to produce more horsepower.

A mechanically driven turbine/compressor used to deliver above atmospheric pressure air to the inlet manifold.

A compressor device to compress the combustion air or the air/fuel mixture before it enters the engine cylinder. Superchargers are typically driven by the engine itself, through a system of gears, a belt drive, or by an electrical motor.

Supercharging is the compression of an engine's intake charge above atmospheric pressure by means of an air pump driven by a crankshaft. This is not to be confused with a turbocharger which is an air pump that is exhaust driven. A supercharger can provide boost faster than a turbo and over a much broader engine rpm range. The disadvantages of supercharging are higher power demands, more mechanical noise and more complex control requirements.

A device which forces a greater weight of charge into the combustion chamber of an aero-engine than would be taken in by normal induction, particularly in reduced atmospheric pressure at great heights.

an air compressor used to force more air into an engine than it can inhale on its own. The term is frequently applied only to mechanically driven compressors, but it actually encompasses all varieties of compressors--including turbochargers.

This is a mechanism that pressurizes air to increase engine power, but unlike a turbocharger it is driven by a belt or gearing and thus though stronger, is more complex.

A belt or gear driven air pump that forces more air and fuel into the combustion chamber for more power.

A crank-driven air/fuel compressor, known as blower. Superchargers raise atmospheric pressure (compression) in the engine resulting in lots of "always on" horsepower.

Similar to a turbocharger, but this compressor is belt-driven (like an alternator or water pump) to achieve the same affects. Not nearly as efficient as a turbo, much greater power levels can be achieved with turbos.

compressor that forces increased oxygen into the cylinders of an internal-combustion engine

A supercharger (also known as a blower, a positive displacement pump or a centrifugal pump) is a gas compressor used to pump air into the cylinders of an internal combustion engine. In gasoline engines this is the fuel/air mixture (the charge) when the fuel has been added. This increases the mass of oxygen and of fuel in the cylinder, thus improving the volumetric efficiency of the engine making it more powerful. ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercharger

Supercharger was a San Francisco-based garage rock band formed by Greg Lowery (vocals/bass), Darin Raeffelli (guitar/vocals), and Karen Singletary (drums/vocals) in 1991. In 1993 they recorded Goes Way Out for Estrus Records. After a European tour with the Mummies in 1993, Supercharger disbanded.

Supercharger is the fourth album by heavy metal band, Machine Head (band). It was released in 2001 but slightly heavier than the previous album, The Burning Red but still kept the rapped vocals and lesser amount of guitar solos. Like with that album, it failed to sell well, mostly due to the September 11 events and it left many fans unpleased. It was the last to feature guitarist Ahrue Luster.
