What does this mean ?

i have a 2door cultus and when i switch on the car just before ignition,( i get this light on along with battery,oil,brake ) on the SpeedoMeter and it stays on till i turn off the car , so its much like the light in other cars , but unfortunately nobody knows what it's for.. pls Guide .

It's the CEL (Check Engine Light). If it comes on while you're driving then there is a problem with your car. Normally it should turn off when you start the car.
