In addition to visible oil spots, owners have reported:

Burning smell after long city drives → fluid contacting hot surfaces.

Slipping gears, especially from 2nd to 3rd.

Delayed shifts during initial drive of the day.

Transmission overheat warning on DCT cars some report this within 20–30 minutes of traffic driving if fluid is low.
