What happens if the catalytic converter is removed from the Changan Karvaan?

Some drivers choose to remove the catalytic converter to avoid engine restrictions. But does this harm the engine in the long run o r affect emissions during vehicle fitness testing?

Removing the catalytic converter can:

Improve engine performance slightly

Reduce exhaust backpressure
But it also causes:

Increased harmful emissions

Check engine light CEL to stay on

Possible failure during vehicle fitness o r emission tests

Damage to O2 sensors o r erratic engine performance

Long-term, this can shorten engine life and invalidate warranties. It’s not a recommended solution.
