Until or unless Pakistani auto companies get into Large scale production they cannot afford quality at low costs.

Also the Pak Govt. must come up with sobs to auto companies and also set up Technical Research institutes to jointly develop local products worthy enough to compete with the International Players.

Also help setting Local design firms to design engines, improve upon existing production products.

Like in India we have AVL to improve upon an existing production engine or develop an all together new engine and they have heitherto developed more than 50 new engines and worked upon 80-90 others for improving the efficiency or fitting tubos, converting IDI to DI or CRDI units.

Companies like Mico, TVS develop and make high tech fuel injection devices for new vehicles ( CRDI units, injectors, ECUs etc )

Pricol and many others develop and make instrumentation, Coraro develops the axles, axle housings, tubing and gear boxes. Gabriel,Escorts and Armstrong develop and make the suspensions for the new vehicle.

Minda, Fiem, Autopal and so many others develop and make lighting devices.

Pakistan also needs to boost such local companies to come with high technical base and large scale manufacturing ability.

This could be more possible by setting up Special Auto Export zones, where Auto companies are given cheap electricity, 5-10 years tax holiday, single window export documentation and above all a platform to arrange required technology from the best players in the world and then train the local manpower to make high quality auto parts.

Also there would be need for post employment training institutes and quality management Institutions for keeping a high standard.

Although the road is bit difficult but an all out effort from all sides of the Govt and the industrial society would see Pakistan becoming a major player in Auto manufacturing withing 5-10 years from such an inception of AutoPak plan.

Here in India everything changed within a span of just 15 years and conceving an altogether new vehicle is not a big thing anymore.

See what TATA did with their ACE. They designed it, rattified the technical requirements and after a through testing launched the product by outsouring 80% of its parts from nearby ancillary units thus generating a huge indirect employment to small scale industry and saving huge investment for a large scale production. Now they make around 60,000 Ace mini trucks in a year with a 50-75% expected increase in the coming year.
