White marks appearing on the hood.

during the "storm" khi experienced, i did a wonderful thing to try protecting my vitz.....covered it with a car cover with coating to prevent scratches on the inside...in the morning when i took it off i was shocked to see white marks appearing on the hood of my silver vitz....ny comments on this and how can it be removed...dont want to repaint the hood and screw the original paint...please do suggest a solution....thx
