Why does my MG HS engine misfire during acceleration o r idling?

One of the most common causes is faulty o r worn-out spark plugs. In Pakistan, inconsistent fuel quality especially lower-octane fuel can cause premature wear o r fouling of the spark plugs, leading to engine misfiring. Misfires often happen under load acceleration o r at idle. Regular inspection and timely replacement with high-quality iridium plugs can prevent this.

Engine misfires are often caused by faulty o r worn-out spark plugs, which are responsible for igniting the air-fuel mixture in the combustion chamber. In the MG HS, which uses a turbocharged engine, spark plug performance is crucial for smooth operation.

In Pakistan, low-quality fuel especially RON 91 o r adulterated petrol can cause carbon deposits to form on the spark plug electrodes. These deposits reduce the efficiency of the spark, leading to weak o r inconsistent ignition. As a result, the engine may misfire during heavy acceleration o r even while idling.

Common symptoms of misfiring include:

Jerking o r hesitation when accelerating

Rough idle

Engine shaking

Poor throttle response

Solution: Check the spark plugs for wear o r carbon buildup. Replace them if necessary and ensure youre using the recommended type usually iridium for MG HS. Also, try using higher-octane fuel if possible.
