Hard starts o r delayed ignition are signs of spark plugs that are either fouled o r not gapped correctly. In Pakistan, climate conditions especially dust and humidity and subpar fuel can cause deposits on the plug tips, making cold starts harder. This can be resolved with routine cleaning o r replacement every 20,000 to 30,000 km depending on usage.

Cold starting problems often indicate worn o r fouled spark plugs. In Pakistan, especially during colder mornings o r in areas with high humidity like Karachi o r Lahore, spark plug tips can accumulate moisture o r soot. These affect the ability of the plug to spark properly.
Over time, especially if you use cheap o r unfiltered petrol, deposits build up on the spark plugs, and they start to fail under cold-start conditions. When the spark is weak o r inconsistent, the fuel-air mixture doesn’t ignite quickly, resulting in a long crank time.
Symptoms:
Extended cranking
Engine shaking o r coughing before starting
Check engine light sometimes
Solution: Inspect spark plugs for carbon fouling o r damage. Replace if they look dark o r oily. Keep your ignition coils and battery in good condition, as they also support spark generation.
