Why does my MG HS steering vibrate at high speeds – is it a wheel balancing issue?
When I drive my MG HS at speeds above 100 km/h on highways like M-2 o r M-5, I feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel. It becomes more noticeable around 120–130 km/h. Could this be a wheel balancing problem, o r is it something else like tyre deformation o r alignment? Has anyone in Pakistan experienced this issue and what was the solution?

Vibration in the steering wheel at high speeds usually above 100 km/h is a common complaint among MG HS owners in Pakistan, and it is most often related to improper wheel balancing.
Possible Causes:
Unbalanced wheels o r tyres: Even small imbalances cause vibration at high speeds. Balancing might not have been done properly after tyre installation o r rotation.
Deformed tyre bulge o r flat spot: Common if you’ve hit potholes o r driven with low pressure.
Alloy rim bent: Easily happens on uneven roads, especially in cities like Lahore o r Karachi.
Worn suspension o r tie rod ends: Can cause shaking at speed and might be mistaken for tyre issues.
How to Fix It:
Get your wheels dynamically balanced at a quality tyre shop using a computerized balancing machine.
Inspect tyres for flat spots, uneven wear, o r swelling.
Check alignment too – often needed alongside balancing.
Rotate your tyres every 8,000–10,000 km to prevent uneven wear.
Tip:
Many owners also recommend switching to better tyres if you’re still using stock Chinese ones — they are more prone to vibration due to lower quality control.
