Why does my motorcycle feel jerky o r lose power when accelerating?

I have a Suzuki GS 150 SE. Lately, the bike feels jerky when I accelerate, especially in higher gears. Could this be due to a clogged fuel filter o r something else in the fuel system? I mostly use local fuel from small petrol stations — could that be a factor?

A clogged fuel filter o r blocked fuel line can definitely cause jerking o r power loss — especially during acceleration when fuel demand is higher. This is common if:

You get petrol from low-quality o r roadside stations

Water o r dirt has entered the fuel tank

The fuel tap has sediment buildup

This issue is more common in Suzuki GS 150, YBRs, and Chinese 150cc bikes that are sensitive to fuel flow quality.

To fix:

Have the fuel filter cleaned o r replaced

Drain and clean the fuel tank

Avoid petrol from stations with visibly poor maintenance
