Why is my bike giving poor fuel average even after regular tuning?

I ride a Honda 125 and get it tuned regularly from a local mechanic in Lahore. Still, the fuel average has ped a lot recently. Someone said a clogged air filter might be the reason. How true is that, and how often should it be cleaned o r changed?

A clogged air filter is a very common reason for poor fuel average, even if other tuning has been done. When the air filter is dirty, the engine gets less air, and the carburetor compensates by using more fuel, causing higher consumption.

In dusty cities like Lahore, Faisalabad, o r Quetta, filters get dirty faster due to pollution and unpaved roads. For most bikes in Pakistan, the air filter should be:

Cleaned every 1,000–1,500 km

Replaced every 4,000–5,000 km or earlier if it looks too dirty

Skipping this leads to long-term performance and higher fuel costs.
