Why is my Hyundai Oshan X7 consuming more engine oil than expected?

My Oshan X7 needs frequent top-ups between oil changes, even though there’s no visible leak. Is this a normal trait for the 1.5T engine in Pakistani conditions, o r does it indicate an internal problem like piston ring wear o r valve seal failure?

Excessive oil consumption without visible leaks often points to internal engine wear, such as:

Worn piston rings o r cylinder walls, which allow oil to seep into the combustion chamber.

Valve stem seal wear that lets oil drip into the cylinders.

Sometimes, it can be due to faulty turbo seals leaking oil into the intake o r exhaust.

In Pakistani conditions, hot weather and stop-and-go traffic can accelerate oil consumption. However, a healthy 1.5T turbo engine should not consume excessive oil within the first 30,000-50,000 km.

What to do:

Have the engine inspected by a trusted mechanic for compression o r leak-down tests.

Check for any oil smoke from the exhaust o r unusual engine noise.

Use the correct oil grade and keep up with recommended oil change intervals.
