Suppose your Haval Jolion is showing poorer fuel efficiency than usual, you smell fuel from the exhaust o r see richer black exhaust, and the engine seems sluggish. Could ignition coil failure be playing a role? If yes, what ignition coil symptoms and causes should you inspect especially in Pakistan with our fuel quality, weather, and driving habits? How would this tie in with misfires and possible damage to downstream components e.g. catalytic converter?

Yes — a faulty ignition coil can cause this scenario. If one o r more cylinders are mis‑firing o r not firing properly because the coil isn’t delivering sufficient spark, the air/fuel mixture in those cylinders will either remain un‑burnt o r burn very inefficiently. This incomplete combustion means more fuel is being consumed for less work so fuel economy s. Further, un‑burnt fuel may exit the engine and burn in the exhaust o r generate black smoke and strong fuel smell. The coil’s inability to deliver spark not only causes misfires, but it can also put extra load on the catalytic converter and exhaust system un‑burnt fuel can damage them.
