Why Is There a Delay o r Stiffness When Turning the Steering Wheel?

Sometimes when I try to steer my MG HS, theres a noticeable delay o r stiffness, particularly during quick lane changes o r sudden turns. Is this a calibration problem with the electronic power steering EPS, o r could there be a mechanical fault?

A delay o r stiffness in steering response can reduce driving safety and comfort. This is not expected in a vehicle with EPS like the MG HS.

Possible causes:

EPS software lag – needs recalibration o r update.

Worn steering rack o r internal binding – especially if the car has high mileage.

Low battery voltage – EPS relies heavily on battery power.

Friction in the steering column o r joints – can be due to dust o r lack of lubrication.

Action:
Visit a dealer o r qualified mechanic to perform a diagnostic scan on the EPS system. Also check the steering column for play o r binding, and ensure the battery and alternator are in good condition.
